Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 49; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 43; Vertebrae: 56. Vertebrae 56, dorsal 49, pectorals 20, caudal 9; pectoral radials 3. Head large, 28% SL, preanal 38% SL. Eye 20% HL. Interorbital wide, 61% HL. Snout very large, in lateral view twice eye diameter, well developed subdermal gelatinous layer. Nostril large, tubular. Mouth horizontal, subterminal. Teeth simple. Cephalic pores large. Symphyseal pores not closely set. Gill opening reaching in front of pectoral ray 2-3. Body pale (pink in life), greyish postabdominally. Peritoneum and gill cavity black, stomach pale (Ref. 39425).
