Remark: | The Nayar is the only breeding ground of Tor putitora in Garhwal region (Uttaranchal). The Nayar is a springfed tributary of the river Ganga (Ganges) in the Himalayan stretch, forming confluence about 40 Kms. upstrteam of Rishikesh (the holy town providing religious sanctuary to this fish). The stretch of the Ganga between the twin hloy (for Hindus) towns of Rishikesh and Hardwar constitute the foothill stretch of the Ganga harbouring the juvenile, adolescent and adult stages. | ||||
